Funeral Services for Lawrence R. "Barney" Harding, 92, Junction City, will be 10:00am Monday, June 11, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Rev. Paul Wolf officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. Mr. Harding passed away June 5, 2007 at Valley View Professional Care Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to service June 11, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice and send to Penwell-Gabel Mass Hinitt Chapel 805 Caroline, Junction City, KS.
Lawrence was born April 12, 1915 in Junction City, KS the son of George and Eva Beryl (Fry) Harding. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1933. He served in the US Army from December 4, 1942 to April 21, 1946 where he received a battlefield commission to 1st Lt. Member of First United Methodist, American Legion Post 45, Army Reserve Officers Association. He then worked for 30 years for Civil Service at Fort Riley retiring in 1974 as a Supervisory Supply Specialist. He was a avid golfer.
Lawrence was married to Josephine I. Schultz March 20,1941 in Kansas City, MO, she survives at the home. Also surviving is a sister Betty Ann Cwik, Chicago, ILL, and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mildred Riley, and Lucille Sieber, brother Kenneth Harding.
Pallbearers will be Fort Riley Honor guard.
