Services for LaVera C. Keener, 83, of Junction City will be Monday, November 8, 2004, 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Marrs officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 7, 2004, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Keener passed away Friday, November 5, 2004 at the Geary Community Hospital. Memorial contributions may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 S. Eisenhower, Junction City, KS 66441.

Mrs. Keener was born July 4, 1921, Linn, KS to Arthur C. and Lillian A.(Tiemeyer)Meyer. She attended school in Clay Center, KS. She moved to Junction City in 1942. Mrs. Keener worked as a sales clerk at JC Penneys and as a supervisor at the lunch counter at Woolworth. She also owned the Spudnut Shop in Junction City from 1958-1968. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She married George C. Keener January 29, 1947, Manhattan, KS, he preceded her in death October 11, 1981.

She is survived by one son, Michael Clayton Keener of Austin, TX, one daughter, Patricia Bahner of Rossville, KS and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband and one sister, Leona and one son, Robert Lee Stafford.

Pallbearers will be Ben Bennett, David Gibson, Dana Wolf, Rick Rook, Tom Stroda and Jason Gromlovits.
