Laura Pearl Acker
Laura P. Acker, 96, of Junction City, died June 29, 2016 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City. Laura was born June 17, 1920 in Junction City, the daughter of John Wesley and Lottie Adele (Eggleston) Estes. A life-long Junction City resident, Laura was a 1938 graduate of Junction City High School. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Junction City. Laura was a homemaker, and enjoyed fishing with her husband.
Laura married Robert Carr "Bob" Acker on June 15, 1940 in Junction City. Bob died April 28, 1991.
Survivors include: a daughter, Jeanne Nixon and her husband James, Junction City; a sister, Meda Hane, Junction City; 2 grandsons, Bob Nixon and his wife Jill, Manhattan, and Russ Nixon and his wife Cindy, Junction City; great-grandchildren, Matt Nixon, Jessica Nixon, Philip Marriott, Kristy Nixon, and Jake Nixon; and many nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Estes, and 2 sisters, Betty Spiller and Kathleen Estes.
A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Highland Cemetery in Junction City. The family will greet friends on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Junction City, 203 N. Washington, Junction City.
