Larry Petroski, Sr., 60, of Junction City departed peacefully from this life the evening of Tuesday February 27, 2024 at Stormont Vail Flint Hills Campus surrounded by family following a long battle with COPD.
Larry Lorenzo Petroski, Sr. was born June 1, 1963 to Myrtle K. White and Lorenzo Pelletier in Waterbury, CT. The youngest of five siblings, he graduated from Presque Isle High School in Presque Isle, ME. In 1981, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Policeman, later changing to a unit supply specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1998, having served in Operation Desert Storm and receiving the Bronze Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze service stars, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal during his 17 years of service.
At the age of 11 he told Tammy Lagassie he would marry her and nine years later, in 1983, they were married- celebrating their 41st anniversary on February 26th of this year. He was the beloved and proud father of Jammie, Katherine, and Larry Jr. His most important roles were devoted husband, dad and coach of his kids’ sports teams, Pawpaw, and being a father and father figure to those who needed one.
Larry Sr. is survived by his wife of 41 years Tammy Petroski; sons Jammie (Jovy) and Larry Jr.(Christina); daughter Katherine; brothers Albert, Romeo, and Jack; and a grandson, Adam Petroski. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Katherine. There will be no services. Interment will be at a later time at Fairview Cemetery in Grandview Plaza so that he and Tammy may rest together forever. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
