Larry Devine

Larry Devine, 64, of Junction City, died on January 24, 2016 at Geary Community Hospital. He was born on April 29, 1951, Worcester, MA to John Gerard and Marie Dominica (Olsson) Devine. Larry was a graduate of Kansas State University. He served in the US Army and worked for KP&L in Community Relations until his retirement.

Larry was an active member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, Rotary, AUSA, 8th Judicial District, Junction City Chamber of Commerce, EDC, Junction City United Way and the Junction City Boys and Girls Club. He was also a graduate of the Regional Leadership Program. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, mentoring children, family, and he had a love for watching his two sons grow up playing baseball.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Deborah "Deb" Johnston of Junction City, KS; his sons, Matt Devine (Holly) and their children Trey, Mia and Maci of Shawnee, KS and Joey Devine (Erin) and their children Mason, Henley and Hudson of Suwanee, GA; Larry Johnston, Jr. (Lisa) of Chincoteague, VA and their children Lauren and Morgan; Jimmy Johnston (Laura) of Chicago; daughter, Trish Mayo of UT and her son Max; brothers, Mike Devine (Chez) of Burlington, VT, Johnny Devine, Jr. (Janis) of Leominster, MA; sister, Diane Pierce (Eddie) of Wellesley, MA sister, Anne Devine Hardin of Fleetwood, NC and his niece, Brenna Siek of Charlotte, NC.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Siek of Charlotte, NC; mother, Marie Siek of Wellesley, MA; and father, John Devine of Harwich, MA.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Gale Hammerschmidt officiating. Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will take place at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Feburary 1, 2016 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Junction City Boys and Girls Club and to St. Xavier Catholic Church.
