Kennith Leroy Kidd, 69, of Junction City, passed away October 11, 2004, at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2004, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 16, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. A private family burial will be following the services in Milford Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to Sheridan Elementary School Library, 429 W. Mr. Kidd was born October 11, 1935, in Junction City, son of Ralph and Alma (Grover) Kidd. He married Reta Lou Cox in 1961; she preceded him in death July 2, 1975. He married Susan "Suzie" D. Lafferty on July 31, 1976 in Junction City; she survives of the home.
He retired from the school district in 1997. He had previously worked at the Sheriff's Department and Police Department in Junction City from 1959-1978. In addition, he was in the Marine Corps for three years. Mr. Kidd was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion and Sheridan PTA.
Mr. Kidd is survived by three sons, Steven L. Kidd of Junction City and Kasey L. Kidd of Danbury, CT and Daryl Kidd of Wichita, one daughter, Amy F. Rudick of Brookfield, CT, four sisters, Carol "June" Kamm of Junction City, Esther Potash of Wichita, Katherine "Katie" Jeffers of Garden City and Viola Parizo of York, S.C.; three grandchildren and loved by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Arlene Manske, Velma Henry and Doris Best; and two brothers, Ralph Kidd and Alfred Kidd.
Pallbearers will be provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
