Kenneth Hall
Kenneth "Ken" Hall, 75, of Grandview Plaza, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his home. Ken was born January 16, 1939 in Knott County, Kentucky, the son of Tivis and Ora (Thomas) Hall. Ken attended schools in Knott County, and entered the U.S. Army directly after graduation. He was a 23 year veteran of the military, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a Bronze Star recipient. After discharge from the U.S. Army, he continued public service, as he became a police officer in Grandview Plaza and served 17 years. He also served one term as the mayor of Grandview Plaza.
He was a member of Union Lodge # 7, AF & AM., and was the lodge's Past Grand Master, the Ft. Riley/Junction City Shrine Club, the Isis Shriner's Club of Salina, the Topless Travelers Shrine Club, and the Earl C. Gormley Post #45 of the American Legion. Ken was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, the current Master of the Enterprise Lodge AF & AM, and the the Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kansas.
Ken married Maria Hartmann on Sept. 18, 1959 in Vilseck, Germany. Maria survives. Other survivors include: a son, Ken R.Hall and his wife Angela, Chapman; 2 daughters, Della Lewis and husband Kevin, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Genesis Miller, Grandview Plaza; a brother, Clarence Hall, Ewington, Ohio; 2 sisters, Mary Helen Farley-Hills, Columbus, Ohio, and Teresa Long, Marysville, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Debra Dusack, Diana Dusack, Madison Smith, and Logan Smith; and 6 great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Glenn Hall.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Junction City, with Pastor Roger Walls presiding. Burial will follow at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Riley. A masonic service will be provided by the Union Lodge #7, AF & AM at the cemetery and full military honors will follow conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends on Sunday, July 13, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be sent to Shriner's Hospital for Children, sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, Kansas 66441.
