Services for Kenneth "Ken" Eugene Tomson,54, of Junction City, KS will be at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, March 5, 2003,at 1:00 p.m. Chaplain Wood will officiate. Ken died February 28, 2003 at Mercy Health Center, Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 2003, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Fort Riley Cemetery, Fort Riley, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joint City/Geary County Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, 210 E. 9th, Junction City, KS 66441. Ken was born May 8, 1948, Washington, IA to Kelly and Martha (Kelley) Tomson. He was a graduate of Wapello High School in Iowa. He married Carol Spangler, June 9, 1973, Oquawka, IL, she survives of the home. Ken served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971, he joined the United States Army in 1973, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th award) Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Driver Wheel Badge with bar. He retired from the Army as a E-6 in 1989. Following his retirement he was a mechanic and a truck driver.
