Memorial services for Mr. Kelly D. Osburn, 58 of Junction City will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street with Reverend Kenton Van officiating. Mr. Osburn passed away at his residence on Sunday, October 31, 2010. Penwell-Gabel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Askren Cemetery in rural Woodson County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441.
Kelly Dean was born July 30, 1952 in Yates Center, Kansas, the son of Gerald and Dorothy (Harding) Osburn. As the son of a military father, Kelly with his family lived in various places around the country, mostly in Junction City the first time in 1956. He graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1970. He then attended Butler County Community College, Emporia State University, graduating from Kansas State University in 1988 with a Bachelors degree in Political Science. He took up the avocation as a certified automotive technician. He worked for several auto dealers in the Junction City and Wichita area. He last worked for the State of Kansas at Fort Riley, Kansas.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Osburn, a brother Lynn Osburn and his wife JoAnn of Gridley, KS, a nephew Cameron of Johnson County, KS, a niece Courtney of Emporia, KS and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Osburn.
Kelly enjoyed playing the guitar and camping with friends. He also enjoyed his dogs including the current German Shepherd, Bud.
