Katherine E. Lucas, 86, of Junction City passed away on December 24, 2011 at Mercy Regional Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the New Church of the Living God with Pastor James Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, KS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Memorial contributions have been designated to an Organization of Donor's Choice.
Katherine was born November 16, 1925, Parsons, KS to James and Hattie (Matthews) Graham. She married Clarence Lucas January 3, 1945 he preceded her in death April 8, 1999.
She became a resident of Junction City in 1957 and worked at the Quarter Master Laundry at Fort Riley, KS for 23 years retiring in 1981. She loved taking care of her children and grandchildren, cooking, singing and "going to" church and she loved her Lord.
She is survived by her daughters; Kimberly L. Langston of Portland, OR, Paula Cunningham and Rhonda Sanders both of Junction City, KS, two sons; Marvin Lucas of Miami, FL and Clarence Lucas, Jr. of Bowie, MD, five grandsons, four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren, two sisters; Arlena Prim, Rachel Holt, one brother, Lancer Martin all of Salina, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and a daughter, Alice.
