Karlene M. Cooper

Karlene Marie Cooper died Wednesday July 11, 2007 at the Geary Community Hospital with her family by her side. There will be a visitation on Sunday July 15 between 6:00 pm and 8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be performed at 1:00 pm on Monday July 16 at the Milford Cemetery. Karlene has asked that those wishing to attend to please wear casual attire for if you dress up "it is only for yourself!"

Karlene was born May 13, 1948 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to C. Neil and Doris Marie (Butts) Mowry. She lived in the Junction City area since 1974. Karlene worked at Fort Riley since 1982 with most of her years spent at Public Works. She married Louis "Pete" Peterschick in November 1966 while living in Rapid City, South Dakota and was later divorced.

She married the love of her life, Ardie Cooper, on June 14, 1986, and he survives her at their dream home in the country with their horses (Navaho, J. D. and Frisco). She is survived by her two sons, Chad Peterschick of Yakima, Washington, with his wife Susan, and their children Blade, Ella and Hailey, and Bart Peterschick of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Karlene is also survived by her mother Doris Mowry of Princeton, Texas, her sister Shirley Toppenberg of Cheyenne Wyoming, and a brother , Darel Mowry of McKinney, Texas, and her step-children and their spouses; Gaylan and Beth Cooper, Cathy and her husband Jim Hamann, and their children Dylan and Ashley, and Ardie and Beth Cooper and their children Dylan and Kendall.
