Karen Sue (Campbell) Scroggins born to the parents of Emanuel and Lillian Campbell, called home on Friday, December 24,2021 at her residence in Junction city, Kansas.
Karen called by her loved ones "Kay-Kay," grew up in Russell, Kansas, educated in Dunlap Academy, graduated from Manhattan Vocational School, and attained her Masters and PhD from Kansas State University. Karen raised four children Rhonda, Chris, Kurtis, and Gloria. Karen was an active member with the St. Tabitha Chapter #75 Eastern Star, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and a member of the Junction City New Church of the Living God. Karen wrote and published three books. One on her family history, one on Black Academy in Kansas, and one on the Kansas Underground Railroad.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Emanuel and Lillian Campbell; Great Grandmother Rosetta Ragland; two brothers Duereal Emmanuel Campbell and Virgil Lewis Campbell.
Karen was an advocate for battered women and enjoyed caring for those in need, making crafts, sewing, cooking, and visiting family. She knew many and was loved by all. Karen truly had a loving heart for everyone and everything living, a true heart of gold.
Karen leaves to cherish her memories to her daughters Rhonda Campbell, Gloria Brown (Jimmie Brown III), Sons Christopher and Kurtis Broadnax, sister Shirley (Kelly) Jones, brother Michael (Tinkie) Campbell and four grandchildren Duereal, Antonio, Dennis, Jamell.
