Julie Ann (Schad) Ross, 60, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, KS. The family will receive friends Monday, November 26, 2018, 6 pm to 8 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street. A Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the Friends of the Milford Nature Center, P.O. Box 1242, Junction City, KS 66441 and/or to the Junction City Fire Fighter's Auxiliary, 700 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS 66441.
Julie was born December 24, 1957 in Junction City, KS, the youngest daughter of John and Irene (Pierce) Schad. Julie graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School in 1975. She was united in marriage to Richard Ross on November 21, 1987, the marriage ended in divorce in 2012. They had one son, Tyler John Ross.
Julie worked as USD 475 District Food Service Secretary for 19 years. While with USD 475 Julie was also involved in the after school care program.
Julie was a lifetime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was actively involved with the school and served as a St. Xavier PTO President for many years. Julie was an active member of many groups, holding Officer Positions in most organizations that she participated in. Those included JCFD Auxiliary, Friends of Milford State Park and Nature Center, JCHS Booster Club, Ottawa University Booster Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Pilot Club and Girl Scout Troop Leader. Julie's passion was centered around her son Tyler's activities as well as those organizations closest to her heart.
Julie is survived by her son, Tyler (Kalyn) Ross of Milford, KS; her sister, Patricia (Jim) Fagan of Paola, KS; her aunts, Dorothy Pierce Smith of Michigan, Jean Pierce McKenzie of Florida, also several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins. Julie considered her family to be her greatest gift in life.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Karl Schad, Sr.
