Julie Sajo
Julie Sajo
Julie Elizabeth Sajo passed away on January 26, 2009, at Geary Community Hospital after a long illness. She resided in Junction City since July, 2008, when she came here to live with her brother, John Sajo, and his wife Janie.
Julie was born on March 25, 1933, in Southgate, California, the daughter of Alex A. and Elizabeth Orban Sajo. The family moved to northeast Ohio shortly after Julie's birth and she grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, where she attended public school, graduating from Lakewood High School in 1951. She attended Baldwin Wallace College received a bachelor's degree in 1954. In 1961, she received a Master's Degree in Education from Western Reserve University.
Most of Julie's life was spent in the field of education where first she taught in the university laboratory school at Kent State University. She moved to Michigan where she became an elementary school principal for many years in the Huron County School district. Julie chose early retirement and moved briefly to Kansas where she lived with her brother and sister-in-law. From there she moved to Reno, Nevada, where she became a sorority house mother for quite a few years and then retired from that position and became active in philanthropic projects in Reno. Five years ago her health began to fail and by the summer of 2008 she decided she needed to be near her only family. She moved here to Junction City in July, 2008. Sadly, her health continued to fail and eventually her illness took its toll and she passed on in January of this year.
Julie endured the many health challenges with her customary grace, courage and humor. As she expressed it herself, she enjoyed "the good life" and chose to have a natural death.
The Sajo family wishes to acknowledge the relationship each of you had with Julie. Many people here became acquainted with Julie during her brief stays her in Junction City. She was a warm, outgoing, caring lady who developed lasting friendships wherever she lived. Julie left the world a better place.
Her cremains will be inurned in Cleveland, Ohio, at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery, next to her parents Alex A. and Elizabeth Orban Sajo.
