Juana "Jean" Gaerlan, 97, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at St. Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Fort Riley Main Post Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6-8 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:30 Monday, September 10, 2019. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Xavier Catholic Church or Arthritis Foundation.
Jean was born May, 16, 1922 in Batanga, Philippines the daughter of Gorgonio and Victoria Cervera.
Jean worked as a bookkeeper for many years in Junction City. She worked for First Presbyterian Church and Waters Hardware Store. She later worked for Goad Motors and Wilcox Motors. She graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1940. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie Rene Valadez and her husband Fernando of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Rita Santos; three nephews, Robert Cervera and his wife Gail, George Richard and wife Nancy and Vincent Santos and his wife Wendy; one niece Victoria Sue Lawson and her husband Roger; many other nephews, nieces and a host of friends and family.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Severo "Joe" and one sister, Clara Asis.
