Joyce Ann Estrada, 76, of Junction City died on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington St. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel with Father Al Brungardt officiating. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd.,Topeka, KS 66604.
Joyce was born on November 23, 1935 in Middletown, Ohio to Wesley and Cathryn (McChestney) Jones. Joyce was part of a military family and thus she made her home in many cities across the continental United States before she eventually settled in Junction City, Kansas.
Joyce married Joseph Estrada on April 12, 1985 in Miami, Oklahoma and she enjoyed 26 years of happy marriage with him living in Junction City. They renewed their vows on September 3, 2006 at the St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating.
She was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan who tried her hardest to watch every single season game that the team played. She was also a very devoted Cincinnati Bengals fan. Joyce loved to read and almost always had a book in her hands and could be seen reading in almost any room of the house. She was a member of St. Xavier's Catholic Church in Junction City.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Joseph Estrada of Junction City; by three sons, Randy Lee Kidd of Junction City, Alan and wife Linda Kidd of Junction City, and Thomas Eugene Kidd of San Luis Obispo, California. She is also survived by three grandsons, Donovan Kidd, Corey Kidd, and Alexander Kidd. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cathryn Jones and by her brother, John "Bubby" Jones.
