Joy Ann Meyer

December 2, 1943 — August 15, 2016

Mrs. Joy Ann Meyer, 72, passed away on August 15, 2016 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Funeral services will take place at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home on Monday, August 22, at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Rex Matney officiating, burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Junction City. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., an hour prior to the service.

Joy Ann Meyer was born on December 2, 1943 to Merle and Joan Reynoldson in Lincoln, Nebraska. Joy attended Junction City elementary, junior high, and high schools graduating with the class of 1961. During those years, Joy's passion was anything to do with horses – reading about them, riding them, and collecting various figurines.

Joy married the love of her life, Leonard F. Meyer, on August 25, l962, enjoying nearly 35 years of marriage before his untimely passing on June 5, 1997. Due to Leonard's career as an engineer, the couple lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Derby, Kansas; as well as Seattle, Washington. Following her husband's death, Joy returned to Junction City residing here until her passing.

Joy could fill a room with her infectious laugh, and her dry sense of humor will definitely be missed. Joy was known for her generosity, always purchasing gifts for her friends and family. Every Christmas, a huge prime rib would appear for her brother, Guy, to prepare on the outdoor grill, enough meat for an army let alone a small family. In her later years, Joy's passion was collecting and watching movies, especially the "classics", having several hundred in her possession.

Joy is survived by her brother, Guy Reynoldson and wife Marilyn as well as her brother-in-law, Gary Meyer and wife Vickie. Also, surviving are nephews David Reynoldson and Tim Meyer as well as nieces Brenda Stutz, Jennifer Brown, and Rebecca Polok. Preceding her in death were her parents Merle and Joan Reynoldson, husband Leonard, and her brother-in-law Albert Meyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been designated to the First United Methodist Church of Junction City and the Salvation Army.
