Joseph Foster
Joseph Foster, 81, of Junction City, died June 23, 2014 at his home. Joseph was born March 6, 1933 in Greensboro, Alabama, the son of Eugene and Nancy (Eakins) Foster. He attended schools in Greensboro and joined the U.S. Army at a young age. He retired as a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army, having served for 20 years, and was a Vietnam War veteran.
After retiring from the military, he worked at the water plant for the City of Junction City for 20 years. Joseph loved to fish and hunt, and was an avid golfer with his buddies on Ft. Riley.
Cremation has taken place.
Joseph will be sorely missed by his daughter, Patricia Toles, Junction City; and other survivors, who include: 2 sons, Michael Foster, Tacoma, Washington, and Joseph Foster, Jr., Detroit, Michigan; a daughter, Elnora Foster-Keith and her husband Michael S., Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Jovan Toles, Francisco Santos-Foster, Jr., Jaylen Foster, Noah Foster, Michael Foster, Jr., Tanetra Channel, Michelle Keith, and Jowana Crater; 8 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Hisako Johnson. Joseph was preceded in death by a son, Harrison Foster, and a granddaughter, Chaziti' Toles.
A memorial inurnment service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel of Junction City in charge of arrangements.
