Memorial services for SFC (Ret) Joseph Anthony Mottas, Sr., 58, of Grandview Plaza, KS will be 7 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington with Reverend Dr. Joe Belardo officiating, VFW #8773 will conduct military honors. Mr. Mottas passed away at his residence after battling cancer on February 22, 2006. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m., Saturday February 25, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel prior to the service. Memorial contributions in Joseph's name may be made to the family and sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS 66441

Mr. Mottas was born April 13, 1947, Fall River, MA to Joseph S. and Dorothy (Whitaker) Mottas. He married Sandra M. James in Waterbury, CT. He retired from the US Army November 30, 1989 as an E-7. Joseph also served as a city council member for the City Of Grandview Plaza, KS. He was a member of the VFW Post 8773 and the American Legion Post #45 of Junction City.

He is survived by his wife Sandra of Grandview Plaza, three sons, Joseph A. Mottas, Jr. and Anthony Mottas both of Junction City and Hoang Longfellow of Emporia, one brother, John Mottas of Waterbury, CT and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Eddie.
