Jose Antonio Perez-Cruz, 49, of Junction City, KS, formerly of Toa Baja, PR, was reunited with God on September 30, 2020. Johnson Funeral home of Junction City is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Church of the Resurrection on Grant Avenue in Junction City, KS.
Jose was born on March 6, 1971, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, to Jose and Margarita (Cruz-Ortiz) Perez-Tirado. He grew up in that area of Puerto Rico and after high school, attended college and earned his Associates Degree in Psychology. He worked as a social worker in Puerto Rico. On August 24, 2001 he married Dorca Freytes-Vazquez in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. Together they moved to Kansas and made Junction City their home.
Jose loved to write and make his own music. He was very creative, loved preaching, and helping others. He was a very funny person and had good sense of humor. Jose enjoyed being with his grandkids, Alianys and Elian. He was passionate about cooking. He loved the kitchen. He also liked playing video games with his daughter Loreyda and son Luis. He enjoyed going fishing with his son and friend Michael. He was a very happy person. He also loved spending time with his wife Dorca, joking and playing around. He loved spending time with his friends and family. Above all was a man of God.
Jose is survived by his loving family: wife, Dorca of the home; son, Luis Angel Acevedo; daughter, Loreyda Nichole Perez-Freytes; his parents; and a host of loving family and friends.
