Joniece Pitts, 54, departed this life on January 25, 2012 at Saint Francis Health Center of Topeka, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the New Church of the Living God with Pastor James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be Monday, January 30, 2012 from 6pm ~ 8pm at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
She was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on July 3, 1957 to parents John and Pauline McFalls, who preceded her in death. Joneice married Calvin Pitts on June 26, 2004 in Junction City, Kansas.
She was a member of the New Church of the Living God, where she sung in the women's choir.
Joneice was the Chairperson of the Juneteenth Celebration in Junction City for thirteen years. She also coordinated the Concerts of Faith and the Entrepreneur Network. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and an Ambassador for the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce. She produced multiple Fashion shows, where she designed and sewed most of the clothes.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin Pitts of Junction City, KS; daughters, Antoinette McFalls, of Junction City, KS, LaShawna Frederick (Saleem) of Mannheim, Germany, and Tiffany Walton (Mario) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Harmony McFalls and Shaune Edwards. She is also survived by two brothers, Grayline McFalls and Charles Kahbeah of Topeka, KS; three nieces, five nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
