Funeral services for John W. Bryant, 66, Junction City will be 11a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Ward Chapel AME Church, 1711 N. Jefferson Street. Pastor Viola Jones will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will take place 6 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave. Mr. Bryant passed away Friday, November 21, 2008, at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Memorial contributions may be given to Ward Chapel AME Church, 1711 N. Jefferson Street, Junction City, Kansas 66441 or to the Disabled American Veterans VA Hospital Bldg. #24 RM 106G, 2200 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas 66622.

John W. Bryant was born October 11, 1942 in Supply, North Carolina the son of John H. and Vera (Bernard) Bryant.

Mr. Bryant retired from the U.S. Army in 1989. After his retirement he worked and donated his time to the Open Door in Junction City. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Retired Listman Association, Kaw Blue Masonic Lodge #107, Ward Chapel AME Church and was a life time member of the VFW. John enjoyed fishing.

He married Frances Russell December 25, 1963 in Newport News, Virginia. She survives of the home in Junction City.

John is also survived by his one daughter, LaTonya M. Bryant of Junction City. He is survived by one brother, Wendell Bryant and three sisters, Lillie Walker, Maxine Gwynn and Debra Melton all of Hampton, Virginia.

John was preceded in death by his parents.
