Services for John S. Marshall,62, of Abilene, Kansas will be held at St. Xavier Catholic Church, Thursday, June 27, 2002, 10:00 a.m.Father Al Brungardt will officiate. John died June 23, 2002 at Abilene Memorial Hospital,Abilene, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2002 with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel,burial will be at Fort Riley Cemetery, Fort Riley, Kansas with Military Honors. John was born August 2, 1939 in Amarillo,Texas to John and Georgia Mae (Knuckey) Marshall, he graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield, Kansas. Received his Bachelor and
Masters degree from Kansas State University. He married Irma Porer on June 15, 1963 in Winfield, Kansas. John retired as an E-7 from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He worked for the Geary County Health Dept. as a child care inspector for seven years and the worked for the KDHE (Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment) for 3 yrs. As a Regional inspector for child care. John was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his Wife: Irma Marshall, Abilene, Kansas; Three Sons: Josef Marshall, Junction City, Kansas, John Marshall, Lawrence, Kansas, and Stan Marshall Junction City, Kansas, One Brother: David Marshall, Lyons, Kansas.
