Funeral services for Joe V. Britt, 83, of Junction City, KS will be Thursday, May 26, 2005, 2 p.m. at First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Roberts and Pastor Darel Boston officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Family will be in attendance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Britt passed away May 21, 2005 at Chapman Valley Manor. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Mr. Britt was born August 25, 1921, Geary County, KS to Virgle A. and Maybell A. (Archbold) Britt. He was a graduate of Junction City High School. He joined the U S Navy November 3, 1942 he was a fighter pilot during World War II, he served until November 21, 1945, he then served in the Naval Reserves until March 8, 1956. Following his time in the service he was a farmer and worked for USD 475 as a school bus driver for 20 years.
He married Ila Marie Stull June 6, 1946, Kimball, NE, she preceded him in death February 4, 1986. He later married Phyllis (Kolling) Moreland, August 25, 1990 in Junction City, KS, she survives of the home.
He was a member of the Plymouth Brethren Church, the Midwest Sad Iron Collectors Club, Wichita Barbed Wire Collectors Association and a Charter Member of the National World War II Memorial.
He is survived by two sons, Gary A. Britt of Tyler, TX and Rodney L. Britt of Decatur, AL, one daughter, Carol L. Autry of Mesa, AZ, one brother, George C. Britt of Wichita, KS, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be Brian Autry, Chad Autry, Steve Moreland, Edward Lazear, Tim Britt, and Steve Sprenkle.
