Funeral services for Jesus "Jesse" Garza, 85, of Junction City will be held at 1 p.m., April 21, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of service. Mr. Garza passed away at Chapman Valley Manor on April 16, 2010. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd., Topeka, KS 66604.
Jesse an only child was born February 11, 1925, Sharyland, TX to Abel and Dominga (Enriquez) Garza. He was in the U S Army and served in WWII, Vietnam and in Korea. He retired from the Army at Fort Riley, Kansas July 1, 1973 as a E-7. He then worked as a Dietician for Irwin Army Community Hospital for 11 years, retiring in 1986.
He married Irmgard Grenkowitz on September 28, 1955 she preceded him in death May 4, 1993.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Garza of Centerville, OH, Jane Thomas and husband Ted of Junction City, KS and son, James Garza also of Junction City, KS and special family friends, Brandon DeVall and Pam Brennan.
