Funeral services for Jesse J. "Doc" Osborn, 92 of Junction City will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Penn officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Mr. Osborn passed away at Geary Community Hospital on June 21, 2008. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church, 624 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Osborn was born April 28, 1916, Tonganoxie, KS to Jesse and Minnie Bell (Collins) Osborn. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He had resided in Junction City since 1939 and owned and operated Osborn Plumbing and Heating Company. Mr. Osborn was a lifetime fish and gamer, lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, the First Baptist Church where he was a trustee from 1945-1975 and the Kansas Plumbers Association. He married Martha Ellen Reece September 3, 1938 in Lawrence, KS she preceded him in death February 17, 1974, he later married Nola Ione November 26, 1975 in Junction City, KS she preceded him in death January 10, 1999.
He is survived by granddaughters; Anastasia Stamper and husband Travis of Linn Creek, MO and Rozalyn Snyder and husband Justin of Santa Fe, NM, step-granddaughter; Starla Buechter and husband Bill. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Austin, Garrett, Wyatt and Collin Stamper and his three step-great-grandchildren, Zachary, Pascal and Isabelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son; Austin Osborn, three sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Charles Maxwell, Jerry Dye, Dale Burris, Delbert Bryant, Joe Knox and Clayton Olson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be George Ahlers, Joe Beck, Travis Stamper, Justin Snyder and Billy Buechter
