Jeryl Ann (Jeri) Gary passed away at the age of 79 on December 11th, 2023. Jeryl was born in Garden City, KS on July 23, 1944, to parents Dan and Loretta (Gulick) Sullivan.
Jeryl graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1962 with honors. Pursuing her passion of art, education and library sciences, she attended the University of Arizona and would complete a degree in teaching. She would go on to study Speech Pathology from Kansas State University earning a master’s degree with honors. For over 40 years, she dedicated her time and energy toward educating K-12 children with special needs.
Jeryl was active in the community living in Junction City for most of her life. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church then later the First Baptist Church. She frequently visited the Junction City Senior Center to play cards and dominoes. She loved to attend art class, creating wonderful scenes of nature and portraits and socialize with friends.
She is survived by her children Shannon and Dustin Crowell, John and Julie Gary; grandchildren Ashley Yarbrough, Elizabeth and Michael Carver, JT and Chloe Reeves, Kaiden Gary, Jocelyn Gary, and Kyra Gary; great-grandchildren, Samara Carver.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jeryl was joy, that touched the hearts of countless people through her life. She saw the world through rose colored glasses. She is remembered for her spirit, courage, and compassion for children, family, and friends.
Jeryl will live on in spirit and memory to all those she touched. She will be missed.
Cremation as taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Brown officiating.
