Jerry W. Shugart Sr, 79, of Junction City Kansas passed away on January 2, 2025.
Jerry was born on March 10, 1945, to Joseph and Thelma Shugart, growing up with his eight siblings he was known as “Butch". Jerry being the second oldest. He grew up as an Army brat which fueled his desire to serve his country.
He went to Oscoda High School in Michigan. Afterwards joined the United States Army in 1963. He proudly served in the United States Army, dedicating 20 years to his nation before retiring with honors.
Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol S. Shugart (Married 60 years) and three children, Jenny L. Shugart, Jerry W. Shugart, Jr. and Sherry K. Shugart; ten cherished grandchildren and eight great-children.
Jerry's passion was riding his Harley Davidson, watching movies and being a prankster. He enjoyed making people laugh, normally just kidding around, light-heartedly. His other true passion were dogs, he owned many dogs and loved each one.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas. He will be given full military honors.
