Jeffrey L. Bivens, 68, Topeka, KS, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his home in Topeka. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City with Fr. Frank Coady will officiate. KS. Inurnment will follow the service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery 5181 Wildcat Creek Lane in Manhattan, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
Jeffrey was born February 21, 1948, at Fort Riley, KS, the son of William and Sally (Carroll) Bivens.
Jeffrey graduated from Junction City High School. After graduating from high school Jeffrey served in the United States Navy from 1965 until 1968. He earned the National Defense Service Medal. He enrolled at Washburn University in Topeka having earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. He also attended the University of Kansas where he studied Sociology and American Studies and attended the Washburn University School of Law. He worked as an Area Manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka for many years. After retiring from Goodyear, he worked for USA800 Call Center in Lawrence, KS. He also worked as a wardrobe consultant at Men's Warehouse.
Jeffrey was Roman Catholic. He had a passion for the Kansas City Royals. He attended a lot of Royals Games. He enjoyed listening to jazz music.
He was divorced. Survivors include one son, Jeffrey A. Bivens of Maryland Heights, MO; one sister, Victoria Ferison and husband David of Stonewall, LA and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of many relatives.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and one brother William F. Bivens.
