Jan married World War II veteran Harlan Henry on May 26, 1959 where she welcomed his four young children, Marilyn, Judy, Larry, and Carol, into her heart and home. The family was then completed with the births of two younger boys, Jim and Tony. Jan raised all six children as her own and offered unconditional love and dedication to each one. When the children were old enough she joined the work force and retired from the Sears Catalog Store in Junction City in the late 1980s. Jan's greatest joy in life was her family, as she enjoyed spending time with special friends and family. .
