James Stanley Smith

James S. Smith, 48, of Junction City, died Friday, July 13, 2018 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. James was born June 10, 1970 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Gerry S. and Pamela L. (Lee) Smith. James graduated from Killeen (TX) High School, and shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy.

James served 7 years in the Navy and was honorably discharged as an E-4. After his discharge, he worked as a civilian employee on Ft. Riley.

James married Jessica Smith on December 8, 1995 in Junction City. Jessie survives. Other survivors include: 3 daughters, Christina Smith, Letha Smith, and Samantha Smith, all of Junction City; 3 brothers, Troy Smith, Darren Smith, both of Iowa, and Tristian Smith, of Junction City; sister, Diahnca Quigley-Smith, of Junction City; and many nephews and nieces.

A Memorial Committal Service will be held Monday, July 30, 2018, 11:00 AM, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan, KS 66503. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517, online at www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org, or by phone (855) 448-3997.

Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
