James Richard Simpkins, 69, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Sunday April 15, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. Cremation has taken place. His cremated remains will be inurned at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at a later date.
He was born September 22, 1948, Shirley, Arkansas to James and Lucille (Bradford) Simpkins.
James retired from the United States Army in 1990. After his retirement, he worked for Everett Inc. as a truck driver. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on the farm.
On March 4, 1972 he married Mary K. Treadaway. Mary and James lived on their farm in Junction City, Kansas.
James is survived by his loving Wife, Mary of the home. Survivors include two daughters, Lori Peaches of Kansas City Kansas and Becky Menefee of Palmer, AK. He is also survived by two brothers, Tony Simpkins and Tommy Simpkins of Tuttle, OK; four sisters, Janie Cooley, Anita Goodnight and Cindy McClure all Clinton, AR and Bonnie Wagner of Cabot AR; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his Father, James T. Simpkins, Mother, Lucille Simpkins and three brothers, Jerry, Larry and Stevie.
