A Celebration of Life service for James Neil Wexler, 54, Junction City, will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2008, at the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church. Pastor Lorenzo Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. Mr. Wexler died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at his residence in Junction City. Mr. Wexler will lie in repose from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, 614 W. 7th, Junction City, KS 66441.
James Neil Wexler was born February 9, 1954, in Lansing, Michigan the son of George and Claire Thyra (Seidner) Wexler.
James graduated from high school in New Paltz, New York. After high school, he received a associates degree from State University. Later he attended Florida International University before enlisting in the United States Army. Following basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, James was assigned to Okinawa, Japan. Throughout his twenty years serving in the Army, James was assigned to Fort Polk, Fort Hood, Germany, South Korea and Fort Riley. He retired from the Army February 1, 1995. After retirement, he worked for a local convenience store and the Junction City Daily Union. He was later hired as a Mail Processor for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship for nearly twenty years serving as an elder, clerk, teacher and treasurer.
James married Rose Ann Biggs February 18, 1978. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, John Wexler and his wife Kristiana of Mcpherson, KS. and Thomas Wexler of Junction City, KS. He is also survived by his mother Thyra Wexler of Fl. and two brothers, Andrew Wexler of NY and Daniel Wexler of WI. He is also survived by a grandson, Isaiah William Michael Wexler and all the brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.
