Memorial services for James Louis Chase, 83, of Junction City, KS will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street with Pastor Bob Frasier officiating. No visitation is planned. Mr. Chase passed away at Chapman Valley Manor on March 16, 2011. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Chapman Valley Manor, 1009 N. Marshall, Chapman, KS 67431 and/or Hospice of Dickinson County, 511 NE 10th, Abilene, KS 67410.
James was born October 2, 1927, Concordia, KS to Allard W. and Mary M. (Henderson) Chase. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. Following his time in the service he married Shirley Faye Edney November 4, 1947, Junction City, KS.
He worked for P.I.E. Trucking Lines retiring after 30 years and received the award for being accident free for over millions of miles. He enjoyed working on the farm and ranch with his brother-in-law as well as gardening and reading. He was a GREAT father and role model.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, one sister, JoAnn Nelson, four sons; James Louis, Jr., Robert Dennis and wife Geri Marie, Stephen Michael and wife Roxanne, and Terence W. and wife Mary, grandchildren; Steven, Sean, Derrick and wife Tess, Ryan and wife Kristine, Ashleigh and husband Zachary, Stephanie, Kyle and wife Patricia and Joey Marie, great-grandchildren; Jacob and Anna Chase, Kylie Rae and Blaize Servin and one nephew, Scott Nelson.
He was preceded in death by parents, two half-sisters; Juanita Merchant and Wilda Shook.
