Services for James "Jim" V. Jackson,77, of Junction City, KS will be Friday, May 31, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church,Pastor G. Edmond Thomas will officiate. Jim died May 28, 2002 at Geary Community Hospital, Junction City, KS. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2002, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Fort Riley Cemetery, Fort Riley, KS with full military honors. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 624 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS 66441. Jim was born June 1,1924, at Washington, D.C. to Harry E. and Edith (Truslow)Jackson, He married Charlene F. Miller December 8, 1963 at Fort Riley,KS, she survives of the home. Jim served in the United States Army. He received the Army Occupation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge w/silver star, Bronze Star Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/Three Bronze Service Stars, Silver Good Conduct Clasp, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, World War II Victory Medal, Purple Heart, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal(Berlin), and an Expert Rifle. James retired in 1975 as a 1st Sgt. James worked civil service in the warehouse and commissary until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Disabled American Veteran Commander's Club and Past Trustee at the First Baptist Church. Memberships: James was a member of the First Baptist Church He is survived by One Son: James W. Jackson of Kansas City; One Daughter: Deborah Cote of Redmond, Washington; One Brother: Zane W. Northcraft of Colonial Heights, VA; Five Grandchildren; and Two Great-grandchildren. Preceded In Death By: Parents; Step-father: George W. Northcraft; and One Daughter: Sharon Fairbanks.
