James H. "Jimmy" Frakes, 70, of Junction City, passed away on February 16, 2015 at Valley View Senior Life Center. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Father Kerry Ninemire will officiate. A visitation will follow the service at the funeral home and then friends may join the family at the Cozy Inn. Memorials have been designated to St. Xavier Catholic Church.
Jimmy was born February 17, 1944, Appleton, WI to Harold W. and Eleanor M. (Van Boxtel) Frakes. His family moved to Junction City when he was just a toddler they became lifelong residents of the area. He was an eagle scout. He went to Barber School and worked for Mobile Travelers and for many years worked for Roger Lawson as a handy man, he loved attending his grandchildrens dancing and sporting activities. He raced cars and motorcycles for many years and then loved to attend racing events after that.
He is survived by his daughter Natalie Frakes and Tim Rexrode of Junction City, Natalie's mother Nancy (Shutts) Wiehl and Natalie's grandmother Mary (Shutts) Thomas of Junction City, his grandchildren; Andrew Millsap at Bucknell University in PA, Justice Rexrode at University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS and Sara Rexrode of Junction City, KS, his brother, Jerry (Connie) Frakes of Junction City, KS, his nephews, Jerry B. (Paige) Frakes of Concord, NC, Kelly (Gail) Frakes of Topeka, KS and his niece, Robin (Jim) Downing of Humboldt, IA, he is also survived by his great-nieces and great- nephews, Kayla, Carley and Lucas Downing, Nick, Austin and Holly Frakes and Harrison and Porter Frakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
