A Mass of Christian Burial for James E. Moritz, 76, of Milford, KS will be held Monday, December 12, 2005, 10 a.m. at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2005, 6 - 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service at Penwell Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Moritz passed away at Geary Community Hospital on December 8, 2005. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, KS 66441 and or American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
Mr. Moritz was born October 29, 1929, Milford, KS to Oscar C. and Isabelle M. (Bitterlin) Moritz. He was a telegrapher for Union Pacific Railroad from 1948 until he was drafted into the Army in 1950 where he served for two years, he then went back to the railroad in 1952. He went to work at Boeing Airplane in Wichita while he was attending Wichita University. He owned and operated a moving and storage company in Wichita from 1956 until 1970. He then moved to Milford to farm for his dad. He resided in Milford for 35 years. He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He married Frances "Darlene" Decker September 3, 1955, she survives of the home.
He is also survived by one son, Harvey Moritz of Chapman, four daughters, Marilyn Ferris of Wamego, Loretta Fisher, Sandra Moritz and Brenda Manning all of Chapman, one brother, Gaylord Moritz of Spearville, KS, one sister, Beverly Greenwood of Milford, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one Aunt, Katherine Miller of Junction City.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Ferris, Lance Ferris, Shane Fisher, J.R. Manning, Adam Magette, Michael Scaletty and Christian Roberts.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Manning, Gaylord Moritz, Mo Greenwood, Raymond Stewart, Raymon Dunn, David Gabel, Eldon Wendland, Harlan Bitterlin, Dale Johnston and Wesley Hunter.
Organist will be Anita Hernandez and Vocalist will be Joan Keating
