A Mass of Christian Burial for James E. "Jim" Beavers, 93, Junction City, Kansas will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2006, at St. Xavier's Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ogden, Kansas. Mr. Beavers passed away Monday, December 18, 2006, at Valley View Care Center in Junction City. Visitation will be Thursday, December 21, 2006, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel with the parish rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Xavier's Catholic Church P.O. Box 399 Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Mr. Beavers was born July 23, 1914 in Geary County, KS to Edmond R. and Hattie (Arkel) Beavers. He served in the U S Army during WWII. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad retiring in 1974 after 33 years, he then became a full time farmer. He married Edith J. Kramer October 23, 1940, Ogden, KS, she preceded him in death November 30, 1992. He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, James D. Beavers of Lees Summit, MO and Larry P. Beavers of Independence, MO, two sisters, Mildred McLaughlin of Chapman, KS and Edna Green of Pamona, CA and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Richard Gustafson, William Gustafson, John Gustafson,Pat Beavers, John Beavers and Jim McLaughlin.
