Jacqueline "Jackie" Hecker, 90, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman, Kansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Kerry Ninemire officiating.
A visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited following the visitation at 7 p.m.
Burial will follow the funeral at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to St. Xavier Catholic Parish or to the Chapman Valley Manor.
Jackie was born May 10, 1934, in Salina, Kansas the daughter of Cecil and Jean (Carlin) Shirack.
In 1964, Jackie moved with her husband Vernon from Salina, Kansas to Junction City, Kansas. Jackie was a full time mother. Jackie spent time raising her children and grandchildren. For a few years, she assisted her husband Vernon with their business at Jayhawk Glass Company.
She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church where she was a member of Circle IV and a sister at Gamma Phi ESA. Jackie was an excellent baker and was know to have an open door to her home with a smile. She was known to always send personal cards wherever they were needed.
On November 19, 1955, she married Vernon E. Hecker in Salina, Kansas. They were married for sixty six years.
Survivors include one son, James Hecker of Salina, Kansas; three daughters, Jean Wolford and her husband Ron of Junction City, Kansas, Julie Taylor and her husband Pat of Wichita, Kansas and Diane Kramer and her husband Larry of Junction City, Kansas; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and thirty four great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Shirack and his wife Diane of Parker, Colorado; three sisters, twin sister Jeannine Schott of Chicago, Illinois, Myrle Carlson of Sherman Oaks, California and Janice Krause of Salina, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon and one brother Larry Shirack.
