Jacqueline Givens, 78, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at her home in Junction City surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral will take place at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the New Church of the Living God with Pastor James E. Johnson officiating. A visitation will take 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on the same day prior to the funeral. Burial will follow the funeral service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the New Church of the Living God 1315 W. Ash Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Jacqueline was born June 25, 1946, in New York, New York the daughter of Gerhart Thrasher and Catherine Jones.
Jacqueline graduated from Commerce High School in New York, New York with the class of 1964. After high school, she worked for a jeweler in New York City.
On January 6, 1968, she married Walter Joseph Givens in New York, New York. She moved with her husband and family while he served in the United States Army for twenty two years. After settling in Junction City, she went to work for U.S.D. #475 as a cook. She retired after twenty one years of service.
Jacqueline was a member of the New Church of the Living God where she participated with the women's ministry, sang in the church choir and served as a Deaconess with the church.
Survivors include one son, Walter J. Givens, Jr. (Monica); three daughters, Antonia Day (Bryan), Michele Castillo (Curtis) and Tara Hammond (Michael); two brothers, Robert Graham and Albert Jones; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Jared, Mikaela, Joshua, Cameron, Philip, Michael, Jr., Natalie and Nathaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter Joseph Givens; one sister, Barbara Jean Burgess.
