A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel for Jackie Gene Davis, 76, Junction City, Kansas. Pastor Bob Strom will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in southwest Geary County. Mr. Davis passed away Tuesday, January 1, at the Valley View Retirement Community in Junction City. Mr. Davis was born July 1, 1931, in Abilene, Kansas the son of George James and Odessa (Kemph) Davis. He has resided in Junction City since 1943.
Jackie served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until his retirement in 1973. After his retirement, he served as the City Marshall at White City, Kansas from 1974 until 1977. He attended the Parkerville Baptist Church. Jackie graduated from Junction City High School in 1951. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He married Ina Jean Loader May 16, 1953. She passed away in August of 1992.
He is survived by his son Darrell B. Davis of White City, Kansas; one daughter, Sherrie L. Davis of Junctio City, Kansas; one brother, Preston Warren Davis of Abilene, Kansas. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one daughter, Susan Elaine Davis in 1989.
