Jackie Barnes

Jack L. Barnes, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Junction City at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011.

Jack was born October 21, 1931, in Hobbs, Ind. He attended Manhattan Christian College, where he met his bride, Rosie Keck. He served with the Manhattan Fire Department for 21 years and enjoyed being the activities bus driver for the Junction City school district for 16 years. He was involved in a local 4-wheel Drive Club, served as Scoutmaster for many years and farmed in his retirement. Jack was a man who faithfully put God, his wife and family first, and in doing so, very generously offered a home to many family members and friends in need.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosie (Keck) Barnes, of Manhattan; son David (Jay) Barnes of Huson, Mont; daughters, Deborah (Ron) Lang of Junction City, Cindy (Dann) Leach of Wichita and Jacque (Brian) Shane of Alta Vista, Kan; Foster sons Roger Banta and Russell Foster; grandchildren, Scott and Shawn Lang, Michael Ryan and Daniel Leach, Jeremy (Kourtenay) Barnes, and Jesse, Mathew and Danielle Shane; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Pat Deerinwater and Sarah Perkins; and brother Jim Barnes.

Memorials have been established with First Christian Church of Junction City or the Junction City's Summer Youth Program.
