Funeral Services for Jack W. Schonberner, 75, will be held Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street, with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 7, from 6-8 pm at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441 and Chapman Valley Manor, P.O. Box 219, Chapman, KS. 67431.
Jack W. Schonberner, lifelong resident of Junction City passed from this life on February 2, 2010 at Chapman Valley Manor. Jack was born September 8, 1934 in Junction City the son of Robert F. and Nadine (Kerschner) Schonberner. On June 20, 1954 he married the love of his life and best friend Sylvia Warner.
Jack was a route salesman for Rainbo Baking Company for 33 years. He was a reserve police officer for Junction City Police Department. Jack also was a transport officer for the Geary County Sheriffs office. He was an honorable past worthy president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles local area #830. Jack was a avid KSU fan and loved his white ford truck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters,
He is survived by his wife Sylvia of 55 years, his three children, daughters Vicki Hall of Junction City, Theresa Ross and husband James of Perry, FL, and one son Doug and wife Liz of Georgetown, TX."Poparooni" had three grandchildren he adored dearly, Jason Hall and wife Kerry of Warrensburg, MO, "his angel" Jennifer Ross Nubel and husband Tal of Tampa, FL, and Lucus Ross ands wife Juana of Perry, FL. Jack has 6 great grandchildren or as he said "Wildcats", Justin Hall, Tyler Nubel, Brett Hall, Hunter Ross, Eli Nubel, and Ashlynn Ross.
