Irvin O. Hurt, 95 of Junction City, KS passed away at Valley View Senior Life Center on March 10, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018 with Pastor Aaron Harris officiating at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Calvary Baptist Church, 405 W. 8th Street, Junction City, KS.
Irvin was born on March 7, 1923, Iola, KS to James W. and Ruth M. (Fitch) Hurt. He worked for many years for the Rock Island Railroad and during his retirement years he worked as a Custodian for churches, schools as well as Jim Clark Automotive. Irvin loved to play his guitar and harmonica and shared his love of music while playing for churches and the residents of nursing homes.
He married the love of his life Eva Lorene (Beals) April 30, 1946, Clay Center, KS she preceded him in death March 12, 2012
He is survived by his children, Oliver (Laura) Hurt of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Angela (Orville) Nelson of Milford, KS and Charles Hurt of Topeka, KS. Five grandchildren, Rick (Victoria) Nelson, David (Jill) Nelson, all of Junction City, Janelle (Justice) Edge of Canyon Lake, TX, Tammy (Sean) Paquette of Milford, KS and Aimmie (Andrew) Jenkins of Fort Wayne, IN, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Hurt, Orville Hurt and Albert Hurt, an infant son, Irva and one great-grandson, Luke David Nelson
