Irma Anna Krahn, age 88, died Monday, September 7, 2009 in Glendale, Arizona surrounded by friends and family.Irma was born June 4, 1921 in Verona, Italy. At the tender age of 26, she met the love of her life Oliver V. Krahn, a solider in the military. Oliver and Irma were married shortly thereafter in 1947. Oliver's duties brought he and Irma to Junction City, Kansas in where they eventually retired in 1972.
Known as "Ann" to those closest to her, Irma lived an active life. Her greatest passions were traveling with her husband in their motor home, spending time with her dog, going to garage sales, and donating her time to the Women's Crisis Center. Irma was also a devoted member of the church, never missing a mass service.
After the passing of her beloved husband in 1993, Irma continued to work for the United States Post Exchange as a snack bar manager in Junction City, Kansas. In 2003 she retired to an assisted living facility in Glendale, Arizona where she lived out the rest of her days close to her sister and extended family. Irma is survived by her sister Maria Krahn as well as a brother and sister in Italy.
Burial services will held at the Fort Riley Cemetery on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 10:00am. Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with burial arrangements.
