Graveside services for Irene W. Shuler, 79, of Junction City will be 11a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Highland Cemetery with Pastor Jeffrey Jefferson officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Mrs. Shuler passed away on March 25, 2008 at Stormont Vail Regional Healthcare Center in Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the organization of donor's choice.
Mrs. Shuler was born June 12, 1928 in Birmingham, AL to Ed and Margie (Pope) Williams. She moved to Junction City from Petersburg, VA in 1960. She was a Manager for AAFES at Fort Riley, KS retiring June 30, 1988. She enjoyed attending church service at Ward Chapel, spending time with her daughters and son-in-law, helping family and friends, and working in her garden. She was always concerned for the welfare of others as she would on numerous occasions, take them to their doctors appointment and do errands for them as long as she was physically able. She truly was a Godsend to many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters; Jane and husband Harold "Bones" Carrington of Junction City, KS, Jeanette Morrisette also of Junction City, KS, one sister Marie Boyd of Kansas City, KS, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Ed Williams, Jr., two sisters; Bayzell Buford and Reba Walker
