Irene L. Rogers, 95, of Junction City, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Sterling House in Junction City. A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Laurie Barnes officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Welcome Cemetery near Alta Vista, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the First United Methodist Church 804 N Jefferson Street Junction City, KS 66441 or to the Kansas 4-H Foundation for Rock Springs Ranch 116 Umberger Hall Manhattan, KS 66506.
Irene was born January 12, 1920, in Eastern Geary County the daughter of William and Caroline Opal (Peterson) Rogers. Irene spent her entire life living and working in Geary County.
She was employed as a Secretary for the Geary County Extension Agency from 1943-1985. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served on many committees. Irene served as the Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the Pilot Club in Junction City.
Survivors include one brother, Edward Rogers and his wife Kathryn; two sisters, Alice Hoover and Hazel Rogers all of Junction City, KS. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William Maurice Rogers who died in 1971.
Casket Bearers for the funeral service will be Rodger Longhofer, Bob Rogers, Heath Gfeller, Billy Crable, Chuck Otte and Terry Heldstab.
