Services for Irene F. Boger, 93, will be 11:00AM Friday January 28, 2004 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM Thursday January 27, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church ,624 North Jefferson, Junction City, KS.
Mrs. Boger passed away January 24, 2005 in Overland Park, KS. She was born February 13, 1911 the daughter of Vincent W. and Maude Goldie (Johnson) Berry in Geary County on a farm south of Junction City and attended school in a one room school house.
Mrs. Boger was a member of First Baptist Church since 1930 and a member of Priscilla Circle at the church .She was a charter member and past president of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles Auxiliary # 830; member of Rebekah Chapman Lodge #645 and past noble grand of the lodge; Womens Relief Corp#43, and a member of Town and Country EHU. Irene was very active in many other community services and was a Pink Lady at Geary Community Hospital for many years.
Irene was married to Byron August Boger April 3, 1929 in Topeka , Ks. He preceded her in death in 1976.They farmed many years before moving to Junction City and she worked for the City of Junction City over 19 years retiring in 1969. .
Survivors include one daughter Violet Marie and son-in-law George Thomas of Kansas City, KS and 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great, grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters Jean Louise Boger and Barbara Mae (Boger) Shamburger; son, Charles August Boger; two brothers Robert Berry and Francis Berry, and a great granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be George Thomas Jr., Dale Schrock, Joe Thomas, Steve Bogard, Neil Manville and Brett McMackin.
