Ila Jane Phillips
Ila Jane Phillips of Chanute, KS, died Friday, December 29, 2006, at the Chanute Health Care Center. She was 75.
In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. A private family service will take place at a later date.
The daughter of Virgil and Dottie Crystal (Moses) Stipp, she was born July 9, 1931, in Thayer, Kansas. She was raised and attended school in Thayer where she was a high school cheerleader.
She was united in marriage to George Richard Phillips and the couple later moved to Chanute. They were later divorced. Mr. Phillips preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Joan Smith and Diana Kay Owen, both of Chanute; two sons, James and Rex Milner, both of Chanute; one sister, Carrie Joan Shay of Fredonia, KS; two brothers, Dean Stipp of Erie, KS, and Tommy Stipp of Thayer; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a son, Myron, a daughter, LaDonna; five brothers, Robert, Delmar, Wayne, Chester and Dale; and a sister, Ellen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home.
