Howard D. Hughes, 61, Junction City, KS passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Geary Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside with military honors will be held at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery near Manhattan, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans.
Howard was born May 9, 1952, in Roanoke, VA the son of James S. and Mary R. (Rock) Hughes. He has lived in Junction City since 1972.
Howard served in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam.
Howard worked for Walmart in the Automotive Department. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Purple Heart Association.
He married Debbie Tschantz April 14, 1973, in Manhattan, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son Steven Hughes of Junction City, KS and one daughter Christina Sutton of Washington, KS. He is also survived by one grandson Trevor Michalak, three granddaughters, Tiffany Rowland, Alesha Pearl and Hope Hughes and one great-granddaughter Avery White.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
